Bodycam footage captured the rescue of a missing boy by New Jersey state troopers. The 4-year-old went missing with his Labrador in the woods near his home.
Boy and dog go missing
Dogs are known for their loyalty to their human companions. There are countless stories of heroic acts from protective pups. Earlier this week, one brave dog earned a badge of honor after keeping a missing boy safe from harm. The 4-year-old and his pup went missing near the family’s home.
Bodycam footage shared by New Jersey State Police replayed the moment troopers rescued the missing boy and his dog. The 4-year-old wandered away from his home in New Jersey on Wednesday evening, NJ Media said. The boy’s mother heard his cries for help. Unable to locate her son, she called in police officers.
4-year-old child and dog rescued
After an hour, authorities reunited the frightened child with his worried mother. State troopers made the rescue in the forested area nearly a mile from her home. Footage from the event showed officials embracing the terrified boy.
“I lost my shoes,” the boy cried.
“We’ve got them, buddy,” an officer replied.
The footage further detailed the dramatic moment. There was an air of relief and celebration. The family’s dog, a black Labrador Retriever, excitedly jumped on troopers who carried the boy to safety. The dog ran alongside the team, accompanying the boy home.
Throughout the ordeal, the supportive dog remained by the boy’s side. Neither the 4-year-old nor the dog was hurt during the incident.
The heartfelt rescue circulated widely on social media.
This isn’t the first time a missing child has been found along with their dogs. In Louisiana, two little girls and their Golden Retriever found their way home after they went missing in the woods for over four hours. Authorities later credited the dog with the girls’ safe return.
