Doggy Dental Assistant Comforts Scared Kids At The Dentist

Most kids hate going to the dentist. It's no fun to have someone picking around in your mouth with sharp metal objects. But kids at a pediatric dental office in Northbrook, Illinois are starting to look forward to their teeth cleanings, and it's all thanks to Jo Jo. The six-year-old Golden Retriever is a certified therapy dog who provides comfort and sits with patients during their procedures.

Jo Jo has a lot of experience with comforting children. She even helped kids after the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Now she allows young patients at her dental office to pet her if they're feeling apprehensive about their visit. She's so good at her job that nervous kids can skip taking a sedative.

Even on a cold day, JoJo comes in to the rescue

The only problem Jo Jo faces is that she's not able to help kids who are allergic to dogs. She only works with patients who want her around. But parents would know that anything that can get children excited and happy about going to the dentist is awesome. Hopefully Jo Jo will be helping people for a long time.
