A dog groomer in Singapore has been busy raising money for charity with some seriously pawsome photoshoots with festive backdrops.
June’s Pet House is running the shoots until New Year’s Eve, raising money for various shelters across Singapore and giving pet parents some adorable photos too.
Each photo costs S$15 per dog (around $11), and the dog parent has the choice to opt in after their pup’s grooming session.
So far, the salon has raised over S$28,000 (over $20,000) from its photoshoots.
Valuable Memories
June Tan, who founded the salon in 2015, told Mothership that she began the photoshoots after her Golden Retriever, Rain, sadly died from cancer. “Everything happened very quickly. Within one month, she was gone,” she explained.
Realizing that she didn’t have many photos of her pup, she decided to begin doing photoshoots for the dogs her customers bring to the salon. “I hope I’ll be able to create beautiful memories for the owners,” she said.
And now, the salon has expanded into Taiwan. June watched the movie “Twelve Nights”, about dogs in Taiwanese shelters, and it inspired her to begin a fundraiser there too. They were able to donate 1,500kg of pet supplies to shelters in Taiwan as a result.
Friends in High Places
Many local celebrities bring their pubs to June’s Pet House. They include Desmond Tan, who co-founded the Blue Socks initiative in 2016 alongside the salon. With this initiative, they aimed to not only raise funds for shelters in the country but raise awareness of pet adoption too – a win-win.
Meanwhile, other high-profile customers include actors Elvin Ng, Romeo Tan, Zoe Tay, and Ben Yeo. They’ve all posted snaps of their pooches visiting the salon to Instagram. Clearly, it’s the place to be if you have four legs and fur and live in Singapore…
