When a dog goes missing or gets lost, it’s one of the worst things a dog parent can experience. And Wilmark Baez, whose English Bulldog Chola went missing after a Florida shooting, was “lifeless for the last three days”.

Chola and another of his pups were taking part in a music video shoot for rapper French Montana near restaurant The Licking in Miami Gardens on Thursday (Jan. 5) when shots began.

“Two minutes after [ Montana] gave me back the dogs is when all the shots rang out,” explained Baez to WSVN 7News. Witnesses claimed that somebody in the crowd said they’d had their wallet, keys, and watch stolen, before gunshots rang out.

A Good Samaritan in Miami Gardens

Understandably, Chola was disturbed by the drama, and ran off. However, a video from a gas station captured the pup running past, and then a local woman saw Chola in a neighborhood nearby. She took a picture of the dog and contacted Baez.

As soon as I got the picture, I was just, like, so relieved and so, like, so much weight had been lifted off my shoulders,” he said.

Fortunately, Montana was also unhurt, and ran into a nearby KFC for cover. However, ten people were injured, with paramedics airlifting four to hospital. According to a 7News source, one person is in critical condition, with the conditions of the others currently unknown.

Still Investigating the Incident

The rapper, born Karim Kharbouch, took to Twitter the following day. “Last night, I was in Miami celebrating the release of my CB6 mixtape w/ friends at a local restaurant. We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time,” he said.

Detectives are still searching for the shooter. If you have any information, you can call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. You can remain anonymous, and you might be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
