Drug Dog Finds Cocaine in Wheelchair at Milan Airport

A drug-sniffing canine led police at the Milan Airport to about 30 pounds of cocaine stuffed into a wheelchair.

Cocaine in Wheelchair

The dog, part of a specialized canine unit deployed at Malpensa Airport in Italy was sniffing arriving passengers and their luggage following a flight from the Dominican Republic. During this routine process, the pup focused on one passenger in particular. The passenger in question appeared to rely on a motorized wheelchair for mobility. The man, a Spaniard, was “assisted by innocent airport staff for his declared inability to walk,” according to the Guardia di Finanza.

On the heels of the dog’s reaction, the police first checked the traveler’s luggage. Then, they discovered the cocaine stuffed into the wheelchair upholstery. The traveler walked away unaided before the cops took him away.

Tomato-Sniffing Canine

Earlier this year, another clever canine in Las Vegas sniffed out more than $10 million worth of cocaine among a truckload of tomatoes, reported Newsweek. Online commenters heaped praise on the crime-fighting pup. When detectives stopped the truck for erratic driving, the police called in Nuggetz, who alerted them to the drugs.

“Don’t bring it to Vegas,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department posted on Facebook.
