A Border Collie is driving her parents crazy – literally. The pup crashed her parents’ Jeep into a parked car recently in Gronant, north Wales.

Border Collie Behind the Wheel

The 6-year-old canine named Freya was caught on video jumping into the driver’s seat of the family Cherokee and accidentally kicking the automatic gearbox into “drive.” The 4×4 then proceeded down a hill and slammed into a neighbor’s car.

Dog grandma Sue Brewer told Yahoo! News UK how the situation transpired: “My dog was in the boot in her cage and I went to put Freya into the front passenger footwell where there’s a lead attached to the bottom of the seat,” she said. “She took matters into her own hands, jumped into the driver’s seat and knocked the automatic gearbox into drive. The car was parked on a slope – it began to roll and crashed into the car opposite.”

A Laughing Matter

The neighbor, 34-year-old Shaun Waller, was startled by a bang outdoors. When he went to investigate on his doorbell footage, he discovered the dog “driving” the car.

“I work from home and I was working as normal when I heard some commotion going on outside,” he recalled. “I looked out the window and saw my neighbor’s car had rolled down their driveway and jack-knifed into my car. Me and my partner were in hysterics laughing – it’s an old car so we weren’t too bothered about the damage.”

Luckily, the dog was not injured in the accident.

Freya’s parents have reportedly forgiven the pup for the unusual incident. They say they still consider her to be a “very good dog.”

“She’s marvelous with the children and she’s a really great family dog,” they said of the mischievous pup.

But next time they take her for a ride, Freya’s going to be relegated to the back of the vehicle…at least until she passes her driver’s test.
