Kabosu, that infamous Shiba Inu from Japan who literally became the face of Dogecoin, is doing better according to a social media post by her dog mom.

Last month, Atsuko Sato informed the internet that her 17-year-old crypto celebrity pup had chronic lymphoma leukemia as well as liver cancer. On Christmas Eve, the dog stopped drinking and eating, and her mom described the canine’s condition as “very dangerous.”

But in a newer post, Sato reports that the pup is going better.
“Your prayers are working,” she wrote. “Our Doge, Kabosu is recovering well. She had her meal and even went for a walk today. Keep sending your love & prayers.”

“I’m amazed how quickly she bounced back,” Sato told followers. “The Miracle of Kabosu couldn’t have happened without your warm wishes and prayers.”
Dog Meme Fame
In case you aren’t up to date on crypto culture or memes, Kabosu originally went viral in 2013 in a meme that inspired a slew of other “doge” memes.
When Dogecoin was launched as a joke, the cryptocurrency bore Kabosu’s mug. Then Elon Musk called it “the people’s crypto” and it, along with Kabosu, became a household name.

Ah, but all good (or even just bizarre) things must come to an end. Dogecoin may be on its last breath (though it is still the only cryptocurrency accepted by Tesla, Musk’s electric vehicle company), but we hope Kabosu can outlast her namesake currency.
