Our Story:

When I first saw Munchie, he was an inert grey wrinkled thin lump lying in an isolation kennel. He was bald. He looked and smelled awful. It was clear that the first year of his short life must have been pretty miserable. I work in a shelter and why I gravitated to this dog after all the others I’ve seen I do not know.

What I do know is that a year and half after he came home with me, he has a full coat of hair and is as fast and graceful as any dog I’ve ever seen. He must have been a tap dancer in a former life. His gentle eye kisses make me happy, and so does he.

My Muttley came along about six months later. Unhappily caged in the back of the shelter, he had come from an abusive home. Had he not been forced to wear a cone around his neck when we first met (due to an eye infection), he’d have bitten me hard. He tried like mad–he was a whirling dervish of wavy black hair, teeth, and flailing legs.

Then, it was over. After that one incident he decided to trust me, and promptly squirmed his way into my heart.

Two different dogs, both small, loving, fun–and very needy. I’d never planned on having small dogs, nor any more males, but fortunately for the three of us plans have a way of going south. I’ve found that to be fairly typical for people and their companion animals.

Happiness resides in loving and in being loved. It’s all about the love, baby.
