Our Story:
We met four months before we had to lay my first Sheltie, Pumpkin, to rest.
We had been talking about getting another Sheltie so Pumpkin wouldn’t be lonely when we were not there.
So one day, my husband calls me and said, “Do you want to go look at a puppy in Alexander city?”
I quickly said yes, and we arranged to meet at Arby’s (which I thought was ironic, because I met Pumpkin for the first time at an Arby’s).
The next morning we were on our way.
We drove and drove, ran into road construction and tried to call and tell them we were going to be late. But, we couldn’t reach them on the phone.
When we finally saw the Arby’s up ahead, I was upset. I thought that they had given up on us, and returned home, but just as we turned into the parking lot, I saw him. They had waited on us. I knew then that he was meant to be with us.
Needless to say, he came home with us that day, and Pumpkin loved him!
He would grab her by the tail, and drag her across the bed; he would go to her for his daily face washing.
My husband was sitting in the chair one day, and got hit in the head with a tug rope. It was Lex, he was teaching my husband how to play fetch.
He still brings us his tug rope or tennis ball and makes you play fetch until you can’t throw anymore.
Lex is a godsend. He has brought us more joy than we could have ever imagined.
We now have thirteen other dogs (most of them rescues) and he keeps them all in line.
