If you live near frozen lakes or ponds, now is the time to exercise extreme caution, especially if you have a dog that is prone to getting off a leash and taking off.
The St. Louis Rescue Squad said on their Facebook page, that they normally are not in the dog rescuing business but recently they could not turn their back on a Rottweiler-mix who needed their help. Bailey fell through the ice of Little Grand Lake and might not have been so lucky had it not been for the fast acting, emergency, response teams.
The St. Louis Rescue Squad arrived and, along with a member from the Grand Lake Fire-Rescue “grinched their way across wafer-thin ice to pull Bailey into a banana boat and back to safety”.
They are issuing a warning to people that area ice is not safe. Please be very careful!
