Celeb Pets: Miley Cyrus Adopts Beagle To Raise Awareness About Animal Testing

You may have seen one of the heartbreaking videos of laboratory Beagles seeing the sun and feeling the grass for the first time in their lives. Beagles are often used by companies to test their products, and estimates from the American Anti-Vivisection Society say that 75,000 Beagles are used in the United States each year. Some even have their vocal cords removed to reduce noise from barking. They’re often euthanized after being used. That’s why Miley Cyrus adopted a former lab testing Beagle to raise awareness about their suffering.

Miley has been an animal advocate for a long time and has many rescue animals of her own. She’s also helped other celebrities take home shelter pets. The newest member of Miley’s family is Barbie, and she’s absolutely adorable. From the pictures, it looks like Barbie is fitting right in at her new forever home.

The new pup celebrated the Fourth of July with her new pop star owner, and it looks like she’s taken a special liking to her new dog sister, Tani. If you’d like to adopt a former testing Beagle of your own, you should check out Beagle Freedom Project, the group that united Miley with her new pup. They do a lot of work to arrange for the release and rehabilitation of lab Beagles and find them homes. Congratulations to Miley and Barbie for finding each other!
