A Senior Home Adopts An Old Dog After Her Resident Owner Passes Away

When Izzy moved to Brookdale Kingston assisted living community in Tennessee with her owner last fall, the ten-year-old pup immediately started winning over the other residents of the senior home. Izzy frequently visited staff members, wandering into offices to say hello, and she quickly became a beloved fixture at the facility.

Maybe Izzy got along with the seniors so well because she is a senior, herself. She sometimes has trouble getting around, and her vision is going. But she’s still got plenty of love to give, and she showed that by popping up at events and gatherings, greeting people and bringing comfort.

Izzy’s owner passed away, and for a time it was unclear who would take her. Family members were not able to bring her home, and being a senior dog doesn’t exactly put you first in line for adoption from the shelters. Everyone at Brookdale Kingston had grown so fond of Izzy that they decided to adopt her. Now she’s the home’s official greeter, and she’s getting plenty of love from the people that have become so attached to her. Her forever home is a perfect place for a senior girl like her to retire.
