Garlic is not considered safe for dogs. Garlic is a root vegetable and is in the same family as onions, leaks, and chives, all of which are not good for your pup.

Some root veggies, like cassava, provide nutritional benefits and are safe for canine consumption. Still, substituting the garlic for another dog-safe root veggie doesn’t make this food a good option for your dog.

In addition to upsetting their stomach, giving your pup too much human food that is high in carbohydrates and fats, like garlic bread, may cause obesity or diabetes.
