Our take: This 3.5 inch high foam bed has an oval shape in which the dog curls up, so the nesting area size is more important than the actual size of the bed. Made from their patented polyurethane GelFoam, it molds to the dog’s body. The cover, which is made of two separate fabrics (fleece and fake suede), can be machine washed in cold water but needs to be line dried.
It’s a comfortable well-constructed choice and, unless your dog is incontinent, the foam shouldn’t get wet. They sell liners but I’d rather have a bed I can just throw in the washer. Getting the cover back on after washing it is difficult.
The dogs weigh in: Tiny ancient 9-pound Clint loved this bed. Arthritic and a medical train wreck, he was clearly comfortable in it. He seemed to feel safe all nestled in, snug as a bug in a rug, but his incontinence made the washing an issue for me. Not a good choice for dogs who like to spread out, but a good choice for those who like to curl up.
