Dog Dials 911 And Saves Owners Life

A service dog named Yolanda, is responsible for dialing 911, after a fire threatened the life of her blind owner.

Maria Colon, a Philadelphia resident, is recovering from minor injuries as the result of a house fire in Holmesburg, Pennsylvania. Without her well trained service dog the outcome could have turned out much worse. Colon works with and trains Yolanda daily to be ready in case of an emergency.

All the training paid off, according to an interview with NBC’s George Spencer, when Colon woke up in the middle of the night choking on smoke. She gave the command “danger” and that was all it took. She heard the sound of the number being dialed and said “Oh my lord, she called the police”. Colon takes care of Yolanda and Yolanda in turn, takes care of her. They rely on each other.
