Ohio Man in Jail for Throwing Dog, Injuring Woman

A 36-year-old man, Robert Cavern, has been sentenced for throwing a dog against a wall in Ohio. Additionally, he prevented a healthcare worker from leaving his residence after witnessing the appalling act of animal cruelty. He pleaded guilty in a pretrial hearing last Thursday, Feb. 8.

Robert Cavern, a Niles resident, has received sentencing for hurling a dog against a wall and unlawfully restraining a healthcare worker, as WFMJ reports. Eventually, he admitted guilt to charges related to unlawful restraint and misconduct involving companion animals, resulting in a nine-day jail term. Moreover, Cravel was fined $500 and is now prohibited from possessing any animal.

A court official stated that three days of the jail term were due to a probation violation, as per WKBN First News. Moreover, the court ordered him to stay on probation for a year.

Earlier this month, the authorities arrested Craven following a report from a caregiver of his elderly mother. The healthcare worker informed the authorities that Craven, in a fit of anger, threw the family dog against a hallway wall, inadvertently causing his mother to collide with the wall.

According to the police, the incident unfolded at a residence on Pleasant Avenue’s 100 Block. In addition, they explained that Craven showed his agitation over his mother’s failure to clean up after the pet dog

The healthcare worker observed a red mark on Craven’s mother. However, the report does not mention the dog’s condition. Furthermore, she told the police that Craven instructed the worker to stay in the house. He didn’t want her to report the incident to the authorities. Fortunately, she was able to exit the home after a few hours when Craven dozed off on the couch, and his mother retired to her room.
