A dog named Love, who was earlier adopted, finds herself back at a Florida animal shelter, desperately seeking a new family. The shelter has voiced concerns over Love’s well-being, highlighting the negative impact the shelter environment has on her. On Feb. 20, they shared a post online, calling for a kind-hearted individual to come forward and adopt her.

Love’s journey has been anything but simple. Originally discovered in January as a stray in Palm City with visible injuries, she was taken in by the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast. Love’s luck seemed to turn around when she was adopted by a family who seemed perfect for her. However, this happiness was short-lived. The family had cats, which proved to be a problem because Love’s natural instincts led her to chase them, resulting in her being returned to the shelter.
The shelter has since shared updates on Love’s condition, noting that she is severely stressed by the kennel environment. According to the organization, “The kennel really stresses her out.” In an Instagram reel, the shelter emphasized the urgency of finding Love a more suitable and stable environment where she can thrive.
Despite her challenges, the 4-year-old dog has been described as the epitome of affection — per Miami Herald. She enjoys being around people and is ready to cuddle with anyone willing to offer her a lap. “She is a 100% lap dog,” the humane society wrote in an email, highlighting her loving and clingy demeanor.
To better suit her needs and reduce her anxiety, Love has been relocated to a quieter area of the shelter, away from the hustle and bustle of the main adoption floor. However, she is still in dire need of a permanent or foster home. Her adoption profile specifies that she must be placed in a home without cats, to avoid any behavioral issues.
As of Feb. 23, the search for a new home for Love continues, with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast appealing exclusively to residents of Florida to step forward. Potential adopters or foster carers can learn more about the process by visiting hstc1.org.
