Emotional tribute on ‘The Daily Show’ by Jon Stewart after the passing of his family dog brought in flood of donations to animal shelter

Jon Stewart gave a public and heartrending goodbye to his dog, Dipper, on an episode of The Daily Show, and mentioned the shelter from where he got Dipper from. This led to donations flooding into the New York City animal shelter, as per Daily News

The 22-time Emmy winner, Jon Stewart, said in his heartfelt tribute to Dipper, “In a world of good boys, he was the best.” He added while tearing up, “He used to come to ‘The Daily Show’ every day. He was part of the OG ‘Daily Show’ dog crew. … And we’d come, and tape, and Dipper would wait for me to be done. He met actors and authors and presidents and kings.”

Consequently, this tugged on the viewers’ heartstrings as donations started pouring into Dipper’s previous home, Animal Haven

In an interview with CBS News, Tiffany Lacey, executive director of Animal Haven, said, “We’re just shy of $50,000.” She further expressed surprise, exclaiming, “This is a big deal.”

According to Lacey, the donations are “in memory of Dipper” thus, the funds will help the dogs in the shelter’s care, as expenses for their vet bills, food, training, and more.

Situated in Manhattan, the no-kill shelter operates with an approximate budget of $3 million, providing sanctuary for around 100 dogs and cats concurrently.

Additionally, Lacey spoke on behalf of Jon Stewart’s family, highlighting their history of adopting pets from Animal Haven. She also encouraged others to consider adoption
