It’s not every day that you see a dog showing interest in becoming friends with an animal belonging to an entirely different species from them.
A TikTok video showcasing the rare friendship between a Dachshund and a seal has melted hearts online, and it should leave any animal lover grinning from ear to ear. If this isn’t the ultimate in friendship goals then we don’t know what is.

The viral video, uploaded to TikTok by account user @weratedogs, bears the caption, “When can we get this romcom on Netflix? 13/10.” In the video, the TikTok creator gives netizens a backstory of how the friendship between the Dachshund, named Stanley, and the seal, which goes by the name Aayla, started.
Apparently, Stanley the Dachshund was on vacation with his owner in England As part of their vacation adventures, the two visited the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. While there, Stanley got particularly drawn to one particular seal in the aquarium tank.
Excited about meeting his soon-to-be BFF, Stanley started pawing at his owner, begging to be placed on the ledge so he could enjoy an up-close view of the seal.
Surprisingly, the seal swam close to the glass partition, and the two animals shared a deep heart-to-heart gaze for some minutes. From the video — which has raked up over 722K likes so far — one can tell that Stanley and Aayla seemed deeply fascinated with each other. They kept bumping their noses on the glass as though whispering to each other.
Stanley’s owner took pictures of the two animals getting along, and the internet can’t get enough of the magical bond this seal and dog displayed.
