Alaska Airlines Issues Apology After Losing Dog at RDU

On Wednesday, Mar. 28, an unfortunate incident unfolded as a dog went missing from an airport. The canine was unintentionally left off of an Alaska Airlines flight from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to Seattle. Apparently, he was supposed to accompany his owner on Tuesday night’s flight, but an error excluded the dog from the journey.

Dog ‘Moose’ escapes while boarding Alaska Airlines flight

Airport authorities at RDU Airport are currently trying to find a Boxer mix dog named Moose, as per ABC11. He was last spotted roaming the airport premises on Wednesday afternoon around John Brantley Boulevard.

According to a spokesperson for Alaska Airlines, he missed his flight with his owner due to a “misstep in the loading process.” As a result, the dog remained in the care of airport staff overnight, as per CBS 17 news.

However, Moose fled while the crews were trying to secure him in his crate for a rescheduled flight. As airport personnel prepared to load the dog onto the morning flight to Seattle, they took him for a walk. When the time came to place the dog into the crate, he suddenly pulled away, shook loose from his collar, and ran away.

The owner’s cousin stated that the owner returned to RDU at approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday. However, they had to promptly return to Raleigh to assist in the search efforts.

According to ABC11, airline officials are keenly anticipating Moose and his owner’s reunion.

In a statement, the spokesperson for the airline noted, “We’re utilizing our resources and working with the airport to locate the dog as fast as possible.” Continuing, they added, “We sincerely apologize to the owner for this stressful situation.”

Moreover, authorities believe that the dog could be still on the airport premises. Thus, CBS 17 crews are also currently on-site, aiding in the efforts to look for Moose.
