Dog Survives Tornado, Kennel Flies Four Blocks Away

On April 26, a dog miraculously survived a tornado while his Omaha home was destroyed. The Nebraska Humane Society found the Rottweiler puppy the same night. He was lounging on a mattress two blocks away from his house.

A Rottweiler named Zeus had luck on his side when a tornado hit his Elkhorn home. The pup was upstairs in his house, keeping safe inside his kennel. Fortunately, the dog survived the tornado, which caused extensive damage in the same neighborhood. Per KMTV 3, the puppy was found two blocks away from his home, lying on a mattress.

The 1-year-old puppy’s house has been completely flattened by the tornado, and his family is working hard to rebuild it. While the rescue found the dog safe and sound two blocks away, his kennel flew four blocks away from his family home. Luckily, the door of the structure broke open, and the Rottweiler managed to escape more or less unscathed.

However, Zeus did sustain some minor injuries. The puppy is currently at Southpaw Veterinary Clinic and is on the road to recovery. The canine lost some of his nails, and his hind leg is a little stiff. Zeus also had minor scratches around his nose. However, it doesn’t seem to bother the pup much as he is in “good spirits,” Southpaw Veterinary Clinic’s Dr. Kati Lackovic noted.

In another tale of luck, everyone in an Iowa family made it out alive after the tornado hit their neighborhood, including their five Vizslas, per KCCI. The family has been breeding the dog breed for years and had the canines inside a shed when the tornado hit their home. While the tornado destroyed the structure, the pups made it out alive, although they had to get some stitches.
