Angie Harmon has sued Instacart and the delivery driver responsible for her beloved dog’s death. On March 30, the actor’s pup was shot by an Instacart driver. Although he was still alive after the shooting, he passed away soon after in the veterinarian’s office. Unfortunately, the police closed the case after their initial investigation, deciding not to charge the suspect.
Angie Harmon sues Instacart and delivery driver after dog was shot and killed
The “Rizzoli & Isles” star was devastated after the incident. Thus, she has filed a lawsuit against both Instacart and the delivery driver responsible for the killing of her pup. As per People, Angie Harmon is seeking $25,000 for her dog’s death. She is suing the organization and Instacart driver for negligent supervision/hiring, trespassing, negligence, invasion of privacy, conversion, and negligent misrepresentation.
Moreover, the court documents note that the actor was originally in touch with an older woman named Merle. However, a younger man showed up at her doorstep. The documents identify the individual as Christopher Anthoney Reid. It is important to note that Instacart’s user agreement forbids fraud, and one can’t share account information. Furthermore, an active and valid shopper account must carry out the shopping and delivery responsibilities.
Instacart released a statement in April noting that the shopper account had been suspended. The organization touched upon the incident in another statement released on May 14, stating that it “cannot comment on pending litigation.” The company has zero tolerance for any form of violence. So, the shopper account has now been deactivated from the platform.
Instacart’s user agreement also forbids delivery drivers from carrying a weapon. However, the “Law & Order” star reportedly saw the man stuffing his gun back in his pant pocket when she ran to the scene after hearing a gunshot. Angie Harmon also opened up about her dog being shot and killed for the very first time on May 15. In an interview on Good Morning America, she stated, “You don’t ever forget that sound.”
