New Jersey Dog Dead, Spent Years Walking Around World

Savannah, the dog who spent seven years walking around the world with her human, has sadly passed away. On May 19, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever spent about three hours lying on her human’s chest. Those were her last hours with her owner, Tom Turcich, with whom she trotted across the world.

Savannah and her human went on numerous adventures across the globe. They covered nearly 25,000 miles on their round-the-world trip, which ended in 2022. Unfortunately, the Toller had several health issues, including kidney problems. The vets did their best to save her, even resorting to ultrasounds and blood transfusions.

Sadly, the pup had to be euthanized at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. At first, Savannah’s state appeared to have improved, per NJ Advance Media. However, it took a turn for the worse, and there was no hope of saving her.

Savannah was only four months old when she was adopted by Tom Turcich in 2015. The dog that walked around the world with her human would have turned nine in a few weeks. Turcich noted, “The way I’m coping with it right now is, she lived the best life you could possibly have for a dog. We spent every minute of every day together for seven years…”

Turcich adopted Savannah a few months after starting his trip. The dog then accompanied him on a memorable walk around the world. She became well-known on social media after featuring in Tom Turcich’s YouTube videos. Savannah accompanied him, walking across 35 nations, and their journey didn’t come easy, as they faced several hurdles.

The pup even went to Antarctica with her human but never got to enjoy Australia. Savannah’s condition slowly declined, getting worse over the months. Turcich shared small clips of the dog with her feeding tube on Instagram, still wagging her tail upon seeing him.
