Dog Rescued From California Freeway Finds Forever Home

A TikTok video of a dog running loose on 110 Freeway in Los Angeles, California, has gone viral. The pup was eventually rescued by some of the drivers driving past him. Several kind Samaritans came together to help the canine as he continued running across freeway lanes. His rescuers are still unaware of how the dog ended up running at full speed on the freeway.

Drivers found a dog scared and running at full speed on the 110 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles. James Leto shared a video of the same on TikTok, which soon went viral and garnered almost 60,000 views. In the video, the pup has his leash attached and can be seen sprinting alongside Leto’s car.

Commuters abandoned their motorcycles and cars on the freeway and came together to try to rescue the dog. With the help of the motorcyclists, they first directed the pup to the side of the freeway so he could be safe from the traffic. His rescuers eventually captured him and brought him to an animal shelter.

According to KTLA, the dog has been named Bailey. Although he was on a leash, the pup wasn’t wearing a collar and wasn’t microchipped. Fortunately, a couple has already adopted Bailey, and he also has a canine companion named Eve in his new family. John and Joey noted that they felt an instant connection with the dog and had no idea he was found running on a freeway, with his rescue video going viral on TikTok.

Unfortunately, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) noted that it often receives calls about animals on highways in the Los Angeles region. While sometimes they may be strays, there are many cases where pets are found abandoned on highways. Officer April Elliott told CBS News that this is when the CHP has to intervene to ensure the safety of the animals and drivers. Usually, the agency rescues the animals and takes them to a nearby shelter.
