In a touching Instagram post, Norman Reedus paid tribute to his canine co-star Seven, who played the role of Dog in “The Walking Dead.” His post came a few hours after the popular series’ official account announced the passing of the beloved canine actor. The cast of the horror series mourned the loss of their co-star, with Lynn Collins, Angela Kang, Sabrina Gennarino, and Yvette Nicole Brown also paying tribute to the dog.

The dog was Reedus’ character Daryl Dixon’s canine companion in “The Walking Dead.” He was a Belgian Malinois and was named Dog in the series. According to Entertainment Weekly, he was made a part of the show after many requests from the actor.

However, in “The Walking Dead” Season 9, Norman Reedus’ wish was finally fulfilled, and his character got a dog to keep him company. Originally, Dog belonged to Leah, Daryl’s love interest, but he took the canine in after she left him behind.

Seven went on to appear in several seasons of the popular series and quickly became a favorite of many viewers. Daryl Dixon entrusted his canine companion to his adopted niece in the final episode of “The Walking Dead.”

Norman Reedus has previously stated how much he enjoyed working with the dog actor. He also called him the “smartest cast member” in an interview with ComicBook.com. The actor jokingly noted that the canine might be running the show soon, and he would absolutely love it.
