Dog Rescued After 2 Weeks From Mountains in Colorado

On July 19, a dog that had been missing for two weeks was rescued from the San Juan Mountains near Silverton, Colorado. The canine spent 14 days alone in the mountains but managed to survive and be reunited with her family. The non-profit organization San Juan Mountain Adventures helped save the pup in time and bring her back to the comfort of her home.

On July 4, dog Konnie went missing while exploring the San Juan Mountains with her family from Arizona. The family desperately searched for their beloved pet but had to return home after being unable to find her. However, they didn’t lose hope and wished to see her safe and sound in their home someday.

The founder of San Juan Mountain Adventures, Jimmy Keene, heard Konnie’s story and took it upon himself to help save her. Finally, two weeks after the dog went missing, she was safely rescued on Friday. Keene didn’t give up and looked for the canine for 14 days throughout the mountains. According to KDVR, he noted that while the landscape is beautiful and scenic, the terrain can be quite unforgiving.

Keene stated that Konnie’s resilience deserved appreciation, as the canine had survived alone for so long. The dog was found miles from where she was last spotted two weeks ago. Fortunately, the pup is in good health. Moreover, her humans are on their way to reunite with her after 14 days.

While hiking or exploring mountains with your canine companion, it is a good idea to have them on a leash attached to a strong harness. Dogs are naturally curious, and even the most trained ones can get inquisitive when out in the wild. Having them on a leash will ensure such incidents don’t happen.

The information registered under their microchips and tags should also be updated. This will ensure you can reunite with your furry friends as soon as possible if they get lost on the hiking trail.
