On June 15, Nicola Peltz Beckham and Brooklyn Beckham mourned the loss of their beloved Chihuahua Nala, and the actor has now sued the groomer responsible for her before the dog’s passing. On July 30, she filed a lawsuit against the groomer, the business, and its owner in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Westchester.

On Tuesday, Peltz took legal action against Jony Ceballos, Deborah Gittleman, and HoundSpa LLC. Ceballos worked with the canine before her passing, and Gittleman owns the business. The step comes about a month after the couple mourned the death of their beloved pup, Nala. By suing the groomer, Nicola Peltz wants to hold him responsible for his actions and shed light on the lack of protection for pet parents.
According to PEOPLE, Peltz accuses the groomer of abusing her dog, which resulted in Nala’s death. She also accused the business and its owner of continuing to employ him even after multiple complaints against him of mistreating animals. In the lawsuit, the actor noted that losing her furry companion caused her emotional distress.
Moreover, the “Lola” actor was shocked to learn how common it was for pet parents to experience this. She exclaimed, “…was heartbroken to hear the horrifying stories from so many others who have experienced the same tragedy. I can’t bear it. I’m outraged to hear how common stories like Nala’s are.” Nicola Peltz is known for her love for dogs. She brought this issue under the spotlight, hoping authorities would introduce laws or changes to protect pet owners.
Nala passed away about two hours after being groomed in a mobile grooming van outside Peltz’s home. While the dog was doing well when she dropped her off, she returned wheezing from the grooming session. Reportedly, her tongue was blue, and she also had fluid in her lungs. After lifesaving efforts from the vet, unfortunately, Nala couldn’t make it and passed away on June 15.
