Chris Evans is debating getting a puppy or adopting a senior dog, the Captain America actor has revealed. Evans and wife Alba Baptista are looking to add a new dog to their family, joining their existing dog Dodger.
Evans told PEOPLE that he and Baptista were looking to add to their family. The 43-year-old told the publication that seeing videos of older dogs who had a “rough life” had factored into the couple’s decision.
Chris Evans says videos of older dogs ‘kill’ him
“The question becomes, do we do the puppy route, or do we adopt an older dog?” Evans said. “Anytime you see one of those stories about some eight or nine-year-old dog that gets adopted who’s had a rough life, it just kills you. And so, to some degree, that’s kind of what we’ve been thinking.”
Evans may be leaning towards adopting an older dog, but he also needs breaks in his schedule to do so. The Marvel star said that he and his wife are waiting for “a little bit of downtime” to pull the trigger on adopting.
He added that while he and Baptista have said about visiting the shelter, he also knows that he’d leave with a dog. “If we make the decision to actually walk in the door, we’re walking out with [a dog],” he continued.
Evans’ love for dogs is well-documented. He rescued his dog Dodger from a shelter in Savannah, posting the moment they met on Instagram:
He also partnered with dog food manufacturerJinx in 2022, aiming to heighten awareness of the premium dog food brand. He has appeared in multiple ads for the company since the partnership began. He also appeared in a viral YouTube video of him playing with puppies and senior dogs where he talked about dog adoption.
