Ex-Patriots QB Brian Hoyer Praised for ‘Life-Changing’ Boxers’ Rescue Story

Former New England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer is in the headlines after opening his home to a mother dog and her puppy. MSPCA-Angell shared in June that 60 Boxers were surrendered from a single home.

After hearing the heartbreaking news, Hoyer and his family visited the Boston Adoption Center to help the poor pups. In fact, the football star also made a generous donation, which allowed a dog to get surgery. Meanwhile, the family also opened their doors to two of the pups. The fostering has taken a heartwarming turn as Brian Hoyer adopts the Boxers.

MSPCA-Angell shared in June that the 60 Boxers arrived from a property in Essex County. The pups, which ranged in age, were in poor condition, as many needed medical attention. The property where the pups came from allegedly had “unsanitary and overcrowded conditions.” Hoyer came across MSPCA-Angell’s post and revealed he’s a parent to three boxers while sharing his heartbreak.

Shortly after, the Hoyer family visited some of the rescued Boxers at the shelter. An emotional Hoyer took to his X (formerly Twitter) to gush about the pups and shared, “They are in such great care!”

Following Hoyer’s visit to the shelter, MSPCA-Angell revealed that the football star made a generous donation to their Pet Care Assistance Fund. This helped one of the Boxers get the surgery she needed for her severely infected ears. The organization thanked Brian and his family for their “time, compassion, and support.” The donations helped cover basic care like vaccinations, dental, and more for all 60 dogs.

On August 23, MSPCA-Angell shared that Brian Hoyer adopted the Boxers—mom, Coco, and her puppy, Chanel, after initially fostering them—”a beautiful commitment to keeping this little family together.” The organization penned that the family’s “story is a testament to the life-changing power of fostering.”
